Social Lab Activity for Class 6 – Understanding Day and Night, Seasons, Equinox, and Solstice
LNCT World School, Bhopal
Today, the Class 6 Social Science teacher conducted an engaging and interactive Social Lab activity focused on explaining the concepts of day and night, seasons, equinox, and solstice. Using a globe, a flashlight, and classroom models, the teacher demonstrated how the Earth’s rotation causes day and night. Students observed how different parts of the globe light up as it spins, helping them visually understand the phenomenon.
To explain seasons, the teacher tilted the globe and showed how the Earth’s tilt and revolution around the Sun cause changes in sunlight intensity and day length throughout the year. The concepts of equinox (when day and night are equal) and solstice (longest and shortest days of the year) were demonstrated with simple, real-life analogies and charts.
